American kickboxing originated in the 1970’s and was brought to prominence in September 1974. 

This is when the Professional Karate Association (PKA) held the first World Championship.  Kyoshi Vernon Mason was the first PKA Bamtan Weight Champion. 

He earned the nickname “THUNDERKICK”.

KICKBOXING

This is a stand-up combat sport based on kicking and punching historically developed from Karate, Muay Thai, Taekwondo and Western Boxing. 

Kickboxing is practiced for self-defense, physical fitness or as a contact sport.
